My On-Board Video System
as Employed Aboard R/C Submarines -- Shameless Advertisement, Part-2
A Report to the Cabal:

Ellie driving a model submarine
equipped with an up-periscope unit on its deck. What she see's through the
goggles is the view from the sail, looking forward -- you would think you were
there.
I had to remind her that she did
not have to hold her breath as the boat slipped beneath the surface of the
water. The sensation of 'being there' is that real!

Steve Neill came up with this neat
trick for the up-periscope: simply rubber-band it to the end of a broom-stick!
I took the idea a bit further and provided a single axis pivot to better aim
the unit. The stick permits you to pan and tilt the submerged camera while you
remain high and dry. Great idea, Steve! I steal only from the best.

When possible I take a TV
monitor-2.4 giga Hertz receiver-DVD recorder unit along with me when I
operate the up-periscope system. This way I have a high-quality video and audio
record of the days activities. The new video system now gives me the ability to
down-load straight to a laptop computer ... Neat!
