A few shots of R/C Subs doing underwater manuevers in my good friend (Tom Grafton's) above ground pool. Pools serve as a great testing ground for trimming your sub before placing it in a lake or other large body of water. Most R/C subs operate in fresh water. Subs also work well in pool water depending on the amount of chlorine used. Salt water reaks havoc on a standard R/C signal therefore few R/C subs operate in salt water. Not to mention the corrosive effects salt water has on submarine structures.

Believe it or not there are R/C subs rigged to shoot missles or torpedoes (such as the one above) via remote control.

Hoperated by David ere is one such sub, a Typhoon class with two of its missle doors open! This model was produced by Copeland Scale Models owned and Copeland.

A poor picture of a scaled down dock with a ship docked and a sub seeking port. You can see the large scales some of these models are compared to the individuals in the foreground.

A picture which shows true dedication to this hobby or a rather eccentric fellow.

Click to see the power tool behind these subs. The water tight cylinder is interchangeable from one submarine hull to the next. From Ohio and Los Angeles class to the infamous Russian Akula. There are even R/C subs from the movies such as:

Abyss

Voyage to the bottom of the Sea

Hunt for Red October

Crimson Tide.

I have provided Submarine miniatures, components and consulting services for some of these and other movies.

Gato class sub rising to the surface. This Sub is equipped to shoot torpedoes if necessary and is the same sub from the torpedo shot above.
