About Us

Our club is Tidewater Automotive Modelers Society (TAMS)

TAMS is a non-profit organization, founded in January 1989, that provides a venue for Tidewater area residents to celebrate the hobby of building and collecting scale model cars, trucks, motorcycles, and construction equipment

Our local club is a low stress, flexible group that consists of men, women, and children from all walks of life. The club’s focus is on fun and developing skills and knowledge of the automotive modeling field. There are no restrictions to membership; everyone is welcome, regardless of interest, budget, or skill level. Several members of TAMS have had their work published in various magazines that cater to automotive modelers including Scale Auto Enthusiast, Model Cars, Car modeler, Plastic Fanatic, and Scale Wheels. Many trophies and awards have found their way into the homes of club members who have decided to enter their models in local, regional, and national competition. Club members build and collect virtually everything from NASCAR racers to Pro-Street, muscle cars to pre- 1945 classic, dragsters to pickups. You name it, and someone will have it.

Regular meetings are held on the 2nd Sunday of the month at Hobby Town USA on Virginia Beach Blvd. next to the Central Library at 2:00 PM.  The club doesn’t require members to pay dues, but everyone is encouraged to participate in the monthly raffle of modeling supplies, kits, and automobilia.  A monthly update and reminders are published via email.

Are you interested yet? If you have any questions, we’d love to help you out. One of the club members will gladly talk with you about the club and auto modeling.
